The One World Festival is a biggest International Cooperation Festival in Kansai region.

The festival started in 1993, and its aim is to inform and educate people with regards to issues facing the world such as destruction of the environment, poverty, and the hardship endured by refugees around the world, as well as raise awareness of how our everyday lives affect the world around us.

As the challenges facing the world keep growing, with the rise in the number of foreign workers in Japan, the increasing pace of globalization, and the close connections between issues at home and abroad, it is becoming increasingly important for us to have a global outlook in all that we do. The One World Festival is an opportunity for Kansai based NGO/NPO’s, government and international organizations, along with private sector and educational organizations to showcase their activities to a large number of people. During the festival many programmes are also run by these organizations to promote global and regional issues in an easy to understand way as well as to promote intercultural understanding.

The festival is organized and run by the One World Festival Committee made up of a number of related organizations such as NGO/NPO’s, educational organizations, and businesses involved in contributing towards society, alongside a group of enthusiastic volunteers who help with the running of the event. The One World Festival is held with the aim of bring together varying organizations to promote such things of importance as world peace, the respect of human rights, protection of the environment, and multiculturalism.
